International Action & Logistics Manager

Main responsibilities
1. Campaign Integration
Actively participate in the global campaign planning process in order to ensure the effective inclusion of action components in campaign project specifications and the strategic inclusion of action lead activities in the design and implementation of the global program.
2. NRO Support
Advise NROs on identifying best practices for NVDAs and assist NROs in the implementation of this expertise in line with organisational and campaign objectives in order to ensure that NVDA expertise and knowledge is shared across Greenpeace and integrated into campaign programs.
3. Management of Field Operations
Appoint, manage and provide logistical support to freelance field actions/logistics coordinators, directing and evaluating operations from a distance as required, in order to ensure the NVDA runs as effectively and as efficiently as planned.
4. Training
Actively contribute to the further development and implementation of the GPI Action Unit training programs such as standard technical trainings, On Board Action and Campaign training in order to ensure that there are enough skilled people in these fields across the organisation.
5. NVDA Coordination
Co-ordinate and supervise land and ship based NVDAs as required, according to NVDA protocols and legal requirements in order to ensure that our actions/operations play out safely, are legally sound, remain within budget and contribute effectively to campaign projects and ongoing issue work achieving their objectives.
6. Rapid Response
Advise GPI on opportunities for and the feasibility of Rapid Response activities and when required, co-ordinate the agreed Rapid Response activities and provide logistics support in line with campaign aims and objectives in order to ensure that Greenpeace is able to react swiftly to emerging campaign and communication opportunities.
7. Managing International Action Equipment
Facilitate the use, maintenance and replacement of GPI action equipment by offices and International Action and Logistics Coordinators; managing costs and subscription fees where applicable in order to optimise the use of available equipment in delivering successful and innovative actions.
8. Legal Risk and Security Assessment
Ensure that all necessary legal risk analysis and security requirements are met in advance of NVDA activities on land or at sea, in accordance with organisational policies, in order to minimize the overall risk of legal and/or security repercussions to the organisation as a result of an NVDA.
9. Innovation and integration
Actively participate and contribute to the designing and development of new, innovative and attractive action concepts e.g. new techniques, tactics and equipment, exploring possibilities for cooperation with other GPI units e.g. marine, campaigns and communications, to ensure widespread implementation of new and existing action strategies.
10. Contribute to team work and cover for Unit
Contribute to the Action Unit team building, the sharing of knowledge, expertise and ideas in order to improve the overall output of the team, covering for other members of the unit in their absence for sustained periods of time when required, in order to ensure the capacity within the unit to support and co-ordinate of land and ship based NVDAs.
Skills required / qualifications
Required:
5 years experience as senior action coordinator or campaigner
Demonstrable commitment to NVDA protest and environmental/peace issues
Fluent written and spoken English
Experience and or knowledge of the use of land/water/airborne (action) equipment
Investigative research skills
Experience working in a cross cultural international environment
Experience in recruitment of activists, developing training programs and team building Experience in working to very tight deadlines
